Gravel riding around the Tyrolean Lech Valley: Fallerschein alpine village and Namlos Valley
Through the Lech Valley into the Namlos Valley, where a partly gravel road grazes the 1,400-meter height. Beforehand, a detour to the alpine village of Fallerschein, located deep in the mountains, is worthwhile.
The route follows the Lech along the gravelly east bank before it climbs into the deeply incised Namlos Valley near Stanzach and thus in the direction of Fernpass. The Namlos Valley is a popular route for many road cyclists and motorcyclists over the southern Hahntennjoch – and motorcycles can be annoying. The gravel bike proves to be an escape vehicle here, as it repeatedly allows an exit onto the old, partly gravelled Namlos road, where we briefly touch the 1,400-meter height above Kelmen. Before this, the detour to the Fallerschein alpine village is a scenic option for a longer rest. Another beauty is Lake Heiterwang, which is also visited on route 2. Please use the connecting path between it and the Plansee road very considerately – it is narrow and heavily trafficked. Finally, it goes fast and smoothly back to Reutte on the finely asphalted Plansee road.
