Everything Flows: Gravel Adventure Through Southern Carinthia

While Heraclitus of Ephesus wasn’t referring to this gravel bike tour with his famous phrase "Everything flows," the title fits perfectly. Starting at the Klopeiner See, the route takes you through a landscape constantly shaped by nature’s transformations.

From the lake, the journey leads to Eberndorf, passing the Sonnegger See, Gösselsdorfer See, the Sablatnig Moor Nature Reserve, and the Turnersee. With "fire" in your legs, you’ll speed along the Drauradweg, following the river back to the starting point.

A highlight along the way is the Hemmaberg near Globasnitz/Globasnica, one of Austria’s most significant archaeological sites from early Christianity. The remains of several churches, a pilgrimage sanctuary, and traces of late antique settlements testify to the site’s former importance.

Don’t miss the Rosaliengrotte, nestled in a rock wall of the Hemmaberg. Accessible only on foot, this grotto features a spring believed to have healing powers—a perfect embodiment of Heraclitus’s philosophy: Everything flows.

This tour combines natural beauty, historical intrigue, and physical challenge, making it a truly enriching experience.
