Katinkulta Aurinkolatu 6 km, Vuokatti
The six-kilometer Aurinkolatu trail is an easy skiing route that circles the Katinkulta holiday home area. The trail runs on the lake ice and through the Katinkulta golf courses as well as across the fields at Pisterinniemi. The route is wide and two-way, with tracks for classic and skate skiing. The skiing direction should be chosen based on possible wind direction and also sunlight: the lake section is best skied with a tailwind. The ski trail has magnificent views of Nuasjärvi and the Vuokatti fells.
The route is suitable even for inexperienced skiers due to its easy profile. If desired, the route can also be toured with snowshoes, as there is plenty of space beside the trail. There is no built shelter on the route, but from Jäätiönlahti there is about an 800-meter side trail to the Jäätiönlampi lean-to, which is a nice resting spot for a snack.

Roadbook
If you stay in the Katinkulta area, you can access the route from several points by walking directly onto the trail. For example, from the Katinkulta beach, follow the signs for 'Aurinkolatu'.
This guide starts the route counterclockwise from the Katinkullantie parking lot. The beginning section goes through a park-like pine forest. This trail section is part of the Jäätiö 2 km trail / multi-use route. After a few hundred meters, turn right and cross Katinkullantie. After crossing, the trail circles behind Vuokatti Bowling alley and heads to the golf course. The trail follows the edges and fairways of the golf course; after skiing just over a kilometer, you reach a Y-intersection. The 10 km Aurinkolatu route continues to the right, so continue left into the forest. After a short forest section, the trail descends to an open field, and from the field's shore cliff onto the ice of Nuasjärvi. On the ice, turn left eastward toward the Vuokatti fells. The ice section of the route is about three kilometers; along the way, you pass the tip of Hiekkanimemi, after which you can see Jäätiönlahti and the Katinkulta shore area. From the lake, the trail rises on a wide track to the shore cliff, continuing gently upward back to the same pine forest and the parking lot where you started.
