Harakkasaari sun ski trail 5 km, Kuhmo Finland
Experience what makes the land of a thousand lakes so unique by enjoying cross country skiing, a typical Finnish activity, on a beautiful ice-covered lake.
Enjoy a relaxed but active cross-country ski tour on the Harakkasaari track in Kuhmo. This easy ski trail is perfect for beginners as well as advanced skiers. The trail runs mostly over the Lammasjärvi lake. It gives you an impression how it feels like to ski on a frozen lake enjoying the spring sun. The track goes around the Harakkasaari island and provides you a beautiful view over the Lammasjärvi lake. The Harakkasaari island is a picturesque island, covered by pine trees and offers a nice campfire site at the south end. After you have skied around the island continue your journey on the track on the mainland. Small altitude differences give the final part of the mainland track an extra dimension. The trail is wide and two-way and has a track for classic and free technique skiing. Choose the direction you circle the tour based on the current wind direction and sunshine: It is recommended to ski with a tailwind on the lake.
