When is grooming done?
In stable weather without snowfall, our routes are freshly groomed late afternoon/evening for the next day.
If it has snowed overnight, the situation is quite different: Our grooming team starts around 6 a.m. to prepare all routes as quickly as possible! The snow groomers start at the Chiemgau Arena. One goes toward the 3-Lakes area, the other two groomers head toward the village. First, the Madshus route is groomed, followed by the practice meadow at Vita Alpina. Then the Grashof route and finally the Froschsee and Brander routes. That is the plan, but sometimes the schedule must be adjusted to conditions or, in case of heavy snowfall, improvised. Regardless, our grooming team always does its best to provide the best possible conditions!
Author’s recommendation
Just a short detour from the route: the historic café Windbeutelgräfin. Be sure to stop by and enjoy a sweet or savory cream puff on the sun terrace or in the traditional rooms of the former mill farmhouse!
Change to the Grashof route via connector V5 and run back to the route start "An der Ampel" via the golf course.
Or switch to the Laubauer route via the connector V6 for a longer round and run to the Chiemgau Arena (from here, return to Ruhpolding almost every half hour with the village line). If you haven't had enough exercise yet, you can run to Reit im Winkl via the 3-Lakes route. The return trip can be done comfortably by bus with the RVO (Regional Traffic Upper Bavaria).

Route Rules
1. Consideration for others Every cross-country skier must behave so that they do not endanger or harm others.
2. Signal situation, direction, and technique Markings and signals (information signs) must be observed. On routes and tracks, skiing must be done in the specified direction and technique.
3. Choice of track and trail On double and multiple tracks, skiing must be done on the right track. Skiers in groups must ski one behind the other on the right track. For free technique, skiing on the right side of the trail is required.
4. Overtaking Must be done exclusively on the left. The skier in front does not have to dodge but should do so if safely possible.
5. Oncoming traffic Everyone must dodge to the right when meeting. The descending skier has the right of way.
6. Pole handling When overtaking, being overtaken, and encountering others, poles must be held close to the body.
7. Adjusting speed to conditions Every skier must adjust speed and behavior to their ability, terrain conditions, traffic density, and visibility, especially on downhill sections. They must maintain a sufficient safety distance to the skier ahead. If necessary, they must fall to avoid collisions.
8. Keeping routes and trails clear Anyone stopping must leave the route/trail. A fallen skier must clear the trail as quickly as possible.
9. Assistance Everyone is obliged to help in case of accidents.
10. Identification obligation Everyone, whether witness or involved, responsible or not, must provide their personal details in case of an accident.
