A varied & not too demanding cycling route from Coburg via Meeder at the foot of the Lange Berge to Bad Rodach and back, mostly on well-maintained asphalt surfaces.
The route leads from Coburg city center into the district of Neuses. There is a memorial site for Friedrich Rückert. His former residence and a small park commemorate the famous poet and orientalist. To the left stretches the new recreational area Goldbergsee. Towering to the left among treetops is Callenberg Castle (family castle of the Dukes of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and the German Shooting Museum).
It continues across fields and meadows to Meeder, a pretty place with the noteworthy Laurentius church and a half-timbered castle as well as a peace museum. Via Großwalbur and Elsa you reach the stage destination Bad Rodach. The historic town center offers various shops and cafés, a local history museum, and a guesthouse.
Just outside the town gates is ThermeNatur, beautifully nestled in the landscape with views of Georgenberg. Visitors can relax there not only in the thermal waters but also in the unique earth-fire sauna.
The path continues through the picturesque countryside past Gauerstadt, before following a long stretch through the cooling Callenberg Forest. After crossing it you reach Weidach and immediately after the district of Scheuerfeld in Coburg.
Opposite you can see the former artisan yard Ernstfarm, before heading down through the Kürengrund back to Coburg.
