From all sides, the newly baroque St. Martin's Church can always be seen, whose 58-meter-high dome is the city's emblem and landmark. Those who follow the signs of the „Maritime Mile“ in its shadow learn step by step how Haren developed into an important shipping company location. The museum ships on the Haren-Rütenbrock Canal and the Haren Art House with shipping museum vividly illustrate this fascinating history.

A completely different side is shown by Haren in the mill museum around the historic Mersmühle. The exhibition „From Grain to Bread“ demonstrates the millennia-long history of grain cultivation, while the herb and kitchen garden makes the culture of vegetables, medicinal, and aromatic herbs sensually tangible. Typical for the pastures along the Ems are not least cows: in Reiner's Melkhüsken in Emen, you can taste what can be made from their milk.

Secondly, in the Schloss Dankern holiday center with its countless play opportunities for all weather and the Dankern lake with water ski cable car. Nearby is also a kart track and a sport airfield, from which scenic flights over the region also depart.
