You leave Toblach via the cycle path to Innichen and continue over the Italian-Austrian border to Sillian. Then you cycle leisurely downstream to Austria's sunniest town, Lienz in East Tyrol. Here the Illyrians already founded a settlement, which was expanded by the Romans into the city of Aguntum. Excavations and finds at the open-air museum "Aguntum" tell about this time. The cycle route from Toblach to Lienz is certainly one of the classics and is very popular.
Difficulty level: easy bike ride, also ideal for families with children. The route always goes slightly downhill following the course of the river Drau, without any significant climbs. The route runs on paved cycle paths that are very well signposted. Parallel to the cycle route runs the railway line from Innichen to Lienz. You can shorten the route at any time by train. Returning by train is also very easy (bicycles can also be transported on the train).
