Thermal route, Magyarhertelend - Bonyhád
This difficult section reveals various treasures of Baranya before us. Starting from the Baranya Hill Range, passing through the mining town Komló, we dive into the dense Eastern Mecsek. Here we cycle near Püspökszentlászló and Zengő, which is the highest peak of the mountain range. From the Mecsek forest, we reach Pécsvárad where, after the Monastery Castle, we head towards Zengővárkony and cycle past the grave of Pál Rockenbauer, then along Route 6 through Mecseknádasd and Hidas to our destination Bonyhád, which is the center of the Valley Region. The Loyalty to the Homeland movement of World War II started from Bonyhád, and after the war, Bukovina Székelys and Hungarians from Upper Hungary settled in many places around here, replacing the German population. Although the description between the two thermal waters is brief, many treasures and stories await us. Perhaps it is no accident that the saying goes, “Country’s pearl gold, the most beautiful county Baranya.”
