Explore a 32 km loop in nature by bike.
Whatever entry point you choose, depending on how you get to the route, the experience will be refreshing and change your scenery. Starting from Théméricourt, Us, Santeuil, Moussy, Commeny or Guiry-en-Vexin, the circuit offers a good balance between small paved roads and rural paths, flat stretches and steeper sections.
Allow about half a day to cover the 32 km of the Théméricourt Loop. A little longer if you take the time to visit the many cultural sites you will encounter.
Some places not to miss on your route:
Théméricourt - The Castle / Maison du Parc :
Be charmed by the contrasting architecture (medieval street side, more classical park side) of this manor in the heart of a 6-hectare estate whose pond is fed by the Aubette de Meulan. You will find plenty of information about the region at the Musée du Vexin français.
Gouzangrez - Jules César Road:
A Roman relic, this strategic axis that linked Rome during the Empire has been for 2,000 years the backbone of the French Vexin. Straight, you can travel it for several kilometers, as the Roman armies once did.
Guiry-en-Vexin - Val d'Oise Archaeological Museum:
Ideal for a break, this museum located in Guiry-en-Vexin displays about 3,000 objects from local archaeological excavations. Its chronological presentation invites a journey far back in time… Did you know that 45 million years ago this region was underwater?
Wy-dit-Joli-Village - Tool Museum:
Anvils, axes, scythes, horseshoes… the objects collected in Wy-dit-Joli-Village bring long-forgotten trades back to life. Nestled in a sumptuous garden, this museum created by Claude Pigeard, a blacksmith passionate about history, was bought by the Department in 2003.

Author’s recommendation
If you want a shorter ride, you can split the trip into two: in the north, a 17 km loop connects Gouzangrez, Us, Santeuil and Commeny, while the southern route (19 km) takes you from Commeny to Gouzangrez, this time passing through Guiry-en-Vexin and Théméricourt.
Want to rent a bike? MTB and electric bikes (E-bikes) are available for rent at the Musée du Vexin français in Théméricourt from April to the end of October. Reservation on www.bikool.fr

Théméricourt
- Théméricourt Castle :
Headquarters of the French Vexin Regional Natural Park, it is a must-see on the route. This elegant and solemn 15th-century manor house houses in its outbuildings a museum presenting historical and practical information about the territory you will travel through.
Gouzangrez
- Distillery Farm :
You will spot it from afar with its tall 30-meter chimney! Its owners offer themed visits of the farm, educational activities, and sale of local products.
- Jules César Road :
Straight, it formerly linked Lutetia to Rouen. It thus crosses the French Vexin for two millennia and is one of the main ancient remains of Val-d'Oise.
Santeuil
- Saint Peter and Saint Paul Church :
Built on a Latin cross plan and preserved from the ravages of time, this pretty little church combines Romanesque style (its choir and bell tower) and Gothic style (its three-level nave).
- Vallière Pond :
In the middle of nature, this vast 24-hectare body of water is a human construction, owed to monks in the Middle Ages. A very diverse fauna has settled there, appreciating the richness of its marshes and hillsides.
Moussy
- Moussy Castle :
This castle, built after the Hundred Years' War, looks proud with its two pepperpot turrets, its two doors, and this curve that unfolds a long defensive facade along the street!
Commeny
- Bread House :
At the heart of the French Vexin cereal plateau, this small museum located in the former flour attic of an active bakery has taken its place! It will reveal secrets and anecdotes about one of the staple foods of our daily life.
Guiry-en-Vexin
- Pattee Crosses :
Emblematic of the Vexin, these crosses with arms narrow at the center and wide at the periphery date from the 11th, 12th, and 13th centuries. The French Vexin has 17 of them; you will find them in open fields or at crossroads, as they were sometimes used to delimit fiefs and domains.
- Covered Alley of Bois Couturier and Bois de Morval :
Discovered by chance in 1915 in Bois de Morval, this gallery dug at the end of the Neolithic (3rd millennium BC) then served as a funerary chamber. This explains why about 200 bones were found there. The Bois de Morval site also offers an astonishing richness in fauna and flora.
- Val d'Oise Archaeological Museum :
Pottery, sculptures, jewelry, agricultural tools, the diversity of the collections you will discover throughout a chronological route allows you to (re)live the history of Val-d'Oise since time immemorial.
- Guiry Castle :
This small classical-style gem, built in the 17th century, is attributed to François Mansart. It stands out for its sobriety and refinement. Nearby, a church in Renaissance and flamboyant Gothic style perfectly complements the visit.
Wy-dit-Joli-Village
- Tool Museum :
Surrounded by its flourishing gardens, the Tool Museum immerses us in the heart of the territory's history, letting us discover an astonishing collection of tools and utensils characteristic of the arts and popular traditions of the French Vexin.
