The Mühlenradweg (Mill route) has that name for a good reason: Faustermühle, Kneisper Mühle and Rosselmühle are just some of the mills that we encounter on our route through the beautiful Wallhalb valley.
Where water power could be used, people built mills. The Wallhalb valley is an old mill valley. The landscape is mainly shaped by the romantic valley of the Wallhalb, which has been a border river since 843 during the tripartition of the empire of Charlemagne. On the section we are traveling, we pass ten mills, one presenting itself as a cozy inn. Rosselmühle – one of the oldest mills in the Palatinate – can even be visited by prior arrangement. The experience of the narrow valley with its rocks on the left side is impressive. For the return journey, we first leave the mill path and take a loop with a significant climb over the ridge between the Wallhalb valley and the Arnbach valley. At the top of the plateau, you are rewarded with beautiful views into both valleys.
