After climbing up to Aminona via the Barzettes, the route descends along the Crans-Montana, Mollens and Venthône cantonal road and then crosses small roads in the vineyard above Sierre. It then skirts the castle briefly using the regional route no.72 « Chemin du Vignoble » before climbing back towards Lens. The viewpoint is exceptional in every season ! The long climb from Vaas through Chelin and Flanthey towards Crans-Montana takes part of the « Steve Morabito Climb » and crosses the paths of the mythical « Bisse du Sillonin » and the « Grand Bisse de Lens ». All the power of the « Valais micro-climate » is expressed on this route… quite early in the season the stone walls warm the road, in summer you can hear cicadas chirping, and in autumn, the Indian summer allows a privileged experience!!!
Author’s recommendation
The itinerary is 40 kilometers long and offers an elevation gain of over 1100 meters, making it quite demanding. Here again, the focus has been on using roads with low traffic to climb back up to Crans-Montana. The particularity of the route is to take small, particularly picturesque roads !

1 : The intersection of « Rte des Mayens / Rte Lens-Crans 115 » 46.291477, 7.453947, is intended to get the cyclist off the cantonal road. Visibility is sufficient to turn left. Since the slope isn't too steep, the cyclist has enough time and speed to assess whether they can engage or not. If not, there is enough space to stop on the right side of the road before entering the « Route des Mayens » which is a flat road. Reminder, this route is intended for a category of « cyclo-sportifs » cyclists. That means an experienced cyclist, comfortable in traffic and on their bike. For information, the « Lens-Crans Cantonal Road » encounters an average daily traffic of 3,500 vehicles/day, which represents a moderate traffic load.Tips and suggestions

The Corin>Ollon section on Sierre on route no.72 uses a "Gravel" road passage. This section is paved with gravel quality suitable for cyclist passage.

To reach Crans-Montana by car, take the exit from the A9 motorway (Rhône motorway) named "Sierre ouest". At the motorway exit, turn left and follow the signs indicating "Sierre". Arriving at the roundabout, turn right. Continue for 500 meters then at the entrance to Sierre, turn left towards "Crans-Montana". The journey takes about 20 minutes. Once arrived in Crans-Montana, follow the signs to reach the Ycoor forum then the Stéphanie parking.Parking
