Cycle through the Vejle River Valley and experience the stunning natural scenery along the Vejle River. Stop in the town of Vejle and explore Denmark’s most beautiful market town, where you’ll find stunning architecture, culinary delights, and museums to suit every taste.
The route is not marked.
Head north toward Jelling on Fårupvej, then turn left onto Fårupgårdvej.
From here, head southwest with lovely views of Fårup Lake and Engelsholm Lake.
You are now in the Vejle River Valley. Continue through Gødding Forest and the rolling countryside near Randbøldal.
From Randbøl Church, continue south. About 500 meters past Randbøl Church, ignore the “Hærvejen” sign for Route “3,” which points right onto Rygbjergvej, and instead continue straight ahead on the road called “Hærvejen.”
After cycling about 3.5 kilometers south, you’ll reach Springbjergvej, which crosses Hærvejen. Here, turn left onto Route “36”—there’s also a sign pointing toward Bindeballe Købmandsgård.
From Købmandsgård toward Vejle, continue cycling along Route “36” (Bindeballestien) through a truly unique landscape. Cars are not allowed here, so it’s just you, your bike, and nature.
You’ll enter Vejle via Vestbanevej, and from there it’s not far to Vejle’s charming pedestrian street in the city center.
From Vejle train station, you can take the train for the last 10 km up to Jelling.
The bike ride from Vejle up to Jelling is steep at times, so make sure your legs aren’t too tired when you arrive in Vejle. The route you’ll follow from Vejle toward Jelling is bike route “34,” which you’ll join at Gl. Jellingvej. Gl. Jellingvej is marked as a dead-end, but it isn’t for cyclists. The road ends at a bike path that leads you up through the forest toward Høgsholtvej.
Follow Route “34”—the Engelsholm Route—toward Fårup Lake and Jelling. The trip ends in Jelling.
