For summit climbers, the scenic bike route is perfect. Past the Kahlen Asten, the path first leads to the idyllic forest village of Mollseifen. The small village is nestled in pristine nature. Breathe in the spicy scent of the forest – pure wellness!

Through the magnificent high forests near Züschen, the route continues to the Ziegenhelle. On one of the highest peaks of the Rothaar Mountains, a wild romantic landscape unfolds. The Ziegenhelle tower rises high above the treetops: Those who climb it enjoy a fantastic 360-degree panorama over the forested heights of the Rothaar Mountains. The view extends far into the Medebach Bay and from the Kahlen Asten to the Eder valley.

In the spa town of Züschen and the quaint village center, half-timbered and slate houses can be admired. Several inns are recommended for a well-deserved break. Refreshed, you'll head back on the last few kilometers along the former railway track to Winterberg.

    Author’s recommendation

The small detour to the Ziegenhelle tower is definitely worth it!

    Roadbook

From the bike point at Winterberg station heading towards Kahler Asten, then to Helleplatz.

At Helleplatz, pass to the right past the former quarry at Wetzstein.

After about 2 km, you'll reach the shelter at Bürbigsplatz. Here again, keep right and always slightly downhill to Mollseifen.

Straight across the road Mollseifen – Züschen and gently uphill to the campsite at the mountain station of the ski lift.

Route 3 now leads, first descending, then rising to the right to the height of Zwistberg.

First follow this evenly, then the path leads left downhill into a sharp right curve. Attention: The bike path goes left over an unpaved forest path up to the HW of SGV X14. Instead of X14, take the parallel forest path.

After about 2 km, turn right uphill to the wax hut at point 704.5.

Route 3 continues uphill to below the tower on the Ziegenhelle and then down to the ski hut Homberg.

The paved road leads steeply downhill into the Ahre valley. Turn right at the hotel and follow the Ockelsbach road along the right side of the valley.

Shortly before the underpass, first turn right, then left to follow the former railway track towards Winterberg.
