    Start/Finish: Train station in Enkenbach-Alsenborn

The Stumpfwald is a forest area between the municipalities of Enkenbach-Alsenborn and Ramsen in the northern Palatinate Forest. It gives its name to the Stumpfwaldgericht, an old court site, and the museum Stumpfwaldbahn. The tourist highlight in the Stumpfwald is the Eiswoog, a reservoir about six hectares in size with catering. Here is also the final stop of the Stumpfwaldbahn, which was reactivated for tourism and runs through the Stumpfwald every Sunday from May to September.

The 30 km circular route starts at the train station in Alsenborn-Enkenbach and leads over the old Hochstraße, a formerly significant traffic route through the Palatinate Forest, to the outskirts of Carlsberg and from there to Ramsen. From Ramsen, take the well-signposted Barbarossa cycle route past the Eiswoog back to Alsenborn-Enkenbach.

    Route description:

The starting point of the circular route is at the train station in Enkenbach-Alsenborn. From the station, you first cross the pedestrian/cyclist bridge towards Alsenborn. After crossing the railway line, turn right immediately after the roundabout into Ziegelstraße. The street leads into an asphalted field path, which goes over the "Platte" and past the "Labyrinth" to the motorway. After passing under the motorway, continue straight ahead, slightly uphill, towards the Großer Hetzelkopf. You now cycle on the Hochstraße, a traffic route that was already significant in Roman times. This mostly asphalted forest path (with many potholes) runs parallel to the A 6 up to the L 520 shortly before Carlsberg.

At the L 520 road, turn left immediately to the parking lot. After the parking lot, continue downhill on a well-developed, mostly asphalted path straight ahead to Ramsen, where you meet the Barbarossa cycle route at the church.

On this very well signposted route, you ride past the Eiswoog (place to stop for refreshments) back to the starting point in Enkenbach-Alsenborn.
