Störmthal Loop

There are several starting points for this day trip. If you start in Gaschwitz, the route heads east along the Störmthaler Canal, past the canoe park and the newly opened Markkleeberg Youth Hostel. A little further on, the viewpoint on the north shore of Lake Störmthal invites you to stop and take in the view. The route then winds through varied meadow and forest landscapes to Großpösna and continues via Fuchshain to Erdmannshain. From here, the route follows the well-signposted “Grüner Ring Leipzig” bike route all the way to Naunhof. There, the Grünstadt playground invites young and old alike to take a playful break. Via Lindhardt and Köhra, the route continues to Belgershain with its castle, which is well worth seeing. Afterward, the route leads through Oelzschau and Kömmlitz to Pötzschau. After a short detour via Espenhain, the route continues to Rötha, where the castle park is a great spot for a break. Just before Böhlen, the route leaves the Grüner Ring and follows the KDLS bike route along the Pleiße River back to Markkleeberg.
