Roadbook
The approximately 48 km circular route starts in Berkenthin on the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. In the central town of the Stecknitz region (beautiful panorama by the canal with church, parsonage, and Kirchsteig bridge), you can view the reconstruction of a salt barge (around 1500). Following the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, the path runs along the long-distance cycle route "Old Salt Road" heading south. After about 4 km, you leave the canal and ride through Niendorf/near Berkenthin. Via Bergrade (swingolf course and "Café uppen Barg") and Duvensee, the route passes through the Duvensee Moor (archaeological site from the Stone Age) and Lüchow towards Sandesneben (field and brick church). A stop is recommended at the farm café "Alter Haferkasten" in Schiphorst. The manor house in Steinhorst can only be viewed from outside, but the "Museum im Kuhstall" with the exhibition "Forgotten Work" welcomes visitors. Passing through the towns of Siebenbäumen (pretty small church) and Kastorf (beautiful privately owned manor house), you reach Bliestorf, where a break at the manor house café is worthwhile. The route continues across the fields to Krummesse and back to the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. In Krummesse, a visit to the notable church and grain distillery is recommended. Along the Elbe-Lübeck Canal, the route heads south back to the starting point in Berkenthin.
