This picturesque route impresses with a change between dense forests and quiet open valley meadows. First, the circular route leads from Schönau over the German-French border past the idyllic "Fleckensteiner Weiher", which invites you to swim. It continues on the newly created bike path through a picturesque valley before passing through the villages of Niedersteinbach and Obersteinbach. The route then becomes much more demanding as it climbs steep hairpin bends to the Col de Wengelsbach, then goes downhill into the village of Wengelsbach and back to the starting point.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate interaction in nature
Always behave with foresight, friendliness, and consideration towards everyone you meet on the way.
Take care of nature, do not destroy plants, and always stay on the paths.
Remember a trash bag for the way and take your waste home with you.
Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
Observe all trail closures for your own safety. Also on weekends.
Park only in designated parking areas. Leave space for emergency routes and agricultural machinery.
Give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Baignade du FleckensteinSafety information
Our bike routes often run on paths where we are guests with our bikes and share them with others. Therefore, we ask for considerate and friendly interaction at all times. Farmers and foresters use the service roads through fields and forests for their daily work (also on weekends) and always have priority. Due to work operations and/or weather conditions, these paths may also be more heavily soiled at times. Special caution is also required when sharing the (mostly quiet and little-trafficked) roads in and around the Alsatian and Palatinate villages.Tips and suggestions
