Selected alternatives for you
This route tempts you with a luxurious descent along a new cycle path running on the embankment of a disused railway to the Austrian Dobersberg. But nothing comes for free; afterwards, you face a gradual fifteen-kilometer climb to the well-preserved ruins of the mighty Landštejn castle. However, the trip is definitely worth undertaking for the interesting monuments, beautiful landscape, and a pleasant descent into Slavonice in the last third of the trip.

    Roadbook

After visiting the historic center, you depart southwards from the Upper Square of Slavonice along EV13, which leads you to Nádražní Street, along the tracks past the train station, until you connect to a cycle path crossing the state border (CZ/A) and continuing through Waldkirchen and Lexnitz to Dobersberg. After exploring the town, you head west and then north along GTL2, Graselweg Thayaland Runde 2, through the villages of Kleinharmanns, Plessberg, and Kautzen to Klein-Taxen, where you cross the border back to the Czech Republic. Two km north from here, you join EV13, which leads you via Dobrohoř Castle to Staré Město pod Landštejnem. Here, a detour off the route to Landštejn Castle about 3 km along CT32 is possible, or you continue on CT1006 and CT1004 via Stálkov to Český Rudolec. From there, after a short rest and refreshment, you proceed on road no. 409 (without cycle signage) to Nová Ves, where you take a left turn on CT1006, which leads you through Dolní Bolíkov to the village of Cizkrajov. From there, you transfer on a third-class road to the settlement of Mutná, near the well-known pilgrimage church Montserrat, and on the natural route CT1002 you join a right turn to a second-class road, on which after about 4 km, you arrive back in Slavonice.
