The route leads through picturesque Schwanberg villages – here you can feel the flair of a wine region. Cyclists pass by or have in view three terroir f points, the magical places of Franconian wine.

The route starts at the Bleichwasen car park in Kitzingen-Etwashausen (below the old Main bridge), heading towards the settlement. Soon you will see the Schwanberg ahead. In the Hoheim district, we continue via Fröhstockheim to the winegrowers' village of Rödelsee. Here a wide view opens up of the vineyards along the edge of Schwanberg.

Shortly after Rödelsee, with Schwanberg in sight, you face the choice just after Iphofen of whether to climb the hill or a Bocksbeutel (terroir-f Großlangheim). Ambitious and "terroir f" lovers turn left into the vineyards.

To visit terroir-f or the Hardthütte, you must cross the district road (to Wiesenbronn). The large Bocksbeutel in the vineyards invites you to take a break.

Back in the Rödelsee plots, the route continues to Iphofen. Here you pass through the well-known vineyards 'Kronsberg' and have the steep sites, 'Julius Echter Berg' on Schwanberg and 'Iphöfer Kalb', in view. Through the famous Rödelsee gate, you "enter" the old town of Iphofen. The vinotheque presents the top products of the Iphofen winemakers. Along a picturesque field path, you cycle to Mainbernheim. The route goes through the old town, but a detour to the wall with the trench gardens or a visit to the almost unique arcade cemetery is worthwhile. Cycling through the Sickergrund, you reach Sickershausen and then the Main river. Passing the Main island, you arrive back at our starting point. A view of the silhouette of the old town of Kitzingen rounds off the route.

    Safety information

Along the way there is not always an (open) place to stop, so take enough water and provisions for a picnic as a precaution.

The route is only conditionally suitable for road cyclists, as there are also some gravel paths.

The detour to Schwanberg is very demanding and winding, recommended only for experienced cyclists.
