Route into the Hinterstein Valley

In the center of Bad Hindelang, we set off through the Hinterstein Valley towards the Giebelhaus. We cross the federal road and leave the town southwards on the bike path next to Bad Oberdorfer Straße. Through Dorfstraße and the 'Kurze Gasse' we pass through Bad Oberdorf onto Hintersteiner Straße, which leads us to Ostrachstraße. Here we turn left and continue our ride along the roadside.
We accompany the Ostrach on our right until we finally reach Hinterstein. At the end of the town, at the fountain, we keep right and soon approach the Konstanzer Jägerhaus, which welcomes guests on a scenic terrace. We get back in the saddle and gain more altitude.
Soon after, the Eisenbreche offers a true natural spectacle: the wild Ostrach has carved over 80 m deep into the rock here. You get a first impression of the roaring waterfall on the bridge shortly before the power plant, before a viewpoint on the right shortly after offers further views into the forested gorge.
The paved path then leads us to the wooden Hubertus Chapel. Here you can rest on a bench and enjoy the view of the Ostrach. Shortly after, we cross the river, which now meanders gently to our left.
The view ahead is now dominated by the mighty Giebel (1,948 m). We approach this distinctive peak without any further significant ascent until we reach the serviced Giebelhaus. At the guesthouse, a magnificent view awaits us. To the left of the Giebel, the rugged Wiedemerkopf (2,166 m) catches admiring glances. Alternatively, you can continue to one of the alp areas in the Obertal and Bärgründletal. With renewed strength, the return ride to Bad Hindelang is now easy.
