Rotenturm, Oberpodgoria, Rechnitz, Burg, and Großpetersdorf

The municipality of Weiden near Rechnitz includes 8 districts: Weiden and Parapatitschberg, Allersdorf, Mönchmeierhof, Ober- and Unterpodgoria, Podler, Rauhriegel – Allersgraben, Rumpersdorf, and Zuberbach.

The settlement of this region took place in the 16th century by the Vlachs. That is why the area around Weiden near Rechnitz is also called “Vlahija,” and the Croatian language is maintained in many families. Every district has a volunteer fire brigade, and a Catholic church or chapel adorns the center of each village. As bearers of culture, we value our “Tamburica Vlahija” and the many clubs in our villages that take care of the preservation of customs, events, and many voluntary activities.

The landscape in the north and east is characterized by gentle hills and forests and then transitions in the southern part with meadows and fields into the Pannonian Plain.
