The Rodach-Itzgrund Cycle Path runs from Thuringia coming from Bad Rodach through the town of Coburg and south of it, parallel to the federal road B4 through the Itz valley towards the Main Cycle Path.
The route starts in the picturesque old town of Bad Rodach. The town, coming from Thuringia, is the perfect transition from the Werra Valley Cycle Path to the Rodach-Itzgrund Cycle Path. It continues through several small villages until finally reaching the center of Coburg. The town offers a variety of activities and great restaurants, ideal for a short break. South of Coburg, the route runs parallel to the federal road B4 through the idyllic Itz valley. The Itz valley impresses with beautifully restored half-timbered houses that characterize the core of many villages. Numerous places to stop invite for another break. After about four hours, the Rodach-Itzgrund Cycle Path ends in the charming town of Rattelsdorf. From here, there is the possibility to connect to the Main Cycle Path and continue the route in the direction of the Main. Most of the route features comfortably rideable asphalt surfaces on country and secondary roads as well as cycle paths. The route is mostly flat and only has short and gentle inclines.
