Ride out for folklore in Hanácké Slovácko
The starting point is Nesovice. You can get here from Brno by train in less than an hour (41 minutes by express, 51 minutes by local train). The first two kilometers we take a little frequented road no. 429, on cycle route no. 5029, towards Snovídky (Koryčany). On the right, you can enjoy the view of the Renaissance castle Nové Zámky from the 16th century on the opposite side of the valley. Unfortunately, the castle is not accessible. Attention! Our route turns off the road just before reaching the ridge above Snovídky. We turn onto one of the asphalt roads that crisscross the Ždánický Forest. These generally well-maintained paths serve foresters and mainly oil workers who maintain several wells on the hill ridges. But don’t worry, it’s quiet and peaceful there, and the wells are hidden in the woods, so you have to look for them. Today we've passed the biggest climb.
An unmarked asphalt road leads us to the crossroads under Nebštich. From here, we can follow tourist signs. The green trail leads us to the crossroads at Kříž. Another intersection has been known as u Janíčka for a long time. A poacher was once shot here. Near the path, there used to be a reconciliation cross in the forest, which disappeared in the second half of the 20th century. The place is marked with a memorial plaque where you can learn more.
At the place where cycle route 5097 joins the road, there is another plaque with information about historical merchant trails that led from Kyjov through the forests to the Litava valley and further to Brno and Olomouc.
The crossroads at Kříž is a junction of marked trails and cycle routes. From there, we continue along the red trail to Slepice.
At the place called U Slepice, there used to be a gamekeeper's lodge. It is called U Slepice because the gamekeeper found a hen nesting with chicks in a tree when choosing the site for the lodge. You can learn more about this place again from information boards. You can also leave a message in the memorial book.
From here, it is only 6 kilometers downhill to the destination, Lovčice. Along the way, enjoy beautiful views of the landscape opening out in clearings. Before entering Lovčice, you will pass three interesting sites:
1. - A sign on the right refers to the jubilee oak groves planted by local foresters for the 40th anniversary of the reign of Prince Jan II of Liechtenstein;
2. - On the left, you can refresh yourself at the Jordánek spring;
3. - And if the spring is not enough, you can take a dip in the picturesque pond.
The event this trip is aimed at usually takes place in the local area near the forest in good weather and is called "seating by the cimbalom with a wine tasting, Lovčice." So all that remains is to set up tents, take wine tastings in hand, and enjoy tasting, singing, and dancing!
