The 42-kilometer-long cycle path connects the Saaleradweg with the Elsterradweg and provides information about the different types of energy generation in the bioenergy region.
The Renewable Energy Cycle Path stretches about 40 km in the north of Saaleland. Due to the informative signposting and bioenergy plants open to visitors, the route offers cyclists a varied program for young and old. Children can also discover the physical laws of renewable energies at the family playground in Schkölen. The BarfussHaus in Nickelsdorf provides an outlook on home energy supply of the future. The building has a biomeiler as well as a photovoltaic system and thus is completely self-sufficient with regenerative energy. Along the route, farm shops and agricultural businesses with regional delicacies invite you to linger.
Due to numerous climbs, an e-bike or pedelec is recommended for the pleasure cyclist.
