    Recknitztal circular route

    Roadbook

The route starts in Ribnitz-Damgarten, where the Recknitz flows into the Saaler Bodden. The sunny heights between Ribnitz-Damgarten and Tessin offer great views of one of the most beautiful river plains in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Between fields, forests, and splendidly blooming meadows, idyllic villages dream away. The road to Tessin passes the small town of Tribsees, which invites a stop with its medieval alleys and the mighty St. Thomas Church.

The second section of the ride runs a little away from the river through small villages and wide fields, in the shade of imposing avenues. From the water tower in Laage, there is a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape.

The majestic Güstrow castle from the Renaissance era rises at the southernmost point of the cycling route. Located in a dreamlike beautiful environment, the Barlach town impresses with its cultural and architectural treasures. Out of the town, into a sea of fragrant forests and shining lakes, the journey continues through the gently hilly landscape. Behind the Great Moor of Göldenitz, the path leads back to Tessin, where the Recknitz again crosses the cyclists' way.

Via Bad Sülze and Marlow, it goes back to the Bodden. The entire lower Recknitztal has been renatured. Due to its extremely rich animal and plant life, it is under nature protection. Not only red deer and beavers but also cranes, storks, and lesser spotted eagles feel at home here. Cyclists follow the reed-covered banks all the way to the amber town of Ribnitz-Damgarten.
