Rail trail cycle paths Eifel: Prüm Cycle Path
In the cross-border low mountain range region of the Eifel, several cycle paths run completely or partially along former railway tracks.
Prüm Cycle Path: Hops up to meter-high ROUTE: 96.8 km, 986 m ascent, moderate Along a former railway track, about 20 kilometers run here from Prüm to Waxweiler. It goes leisurely with a slight downhill from about 460 to 330 meters above sea level. Previously from Stadtkyll to Prüm and afterward from Waxweiler to Minden at the Luxembourg border, the path is dotted with quite a few climbs. The route largely follows the Prüm, the second-longest river of the Eifel. Besides mostly paved cycle paths, some kilometers on low-traffic roads must also be completed. At the end of August/beginning of September, hops grow up to meter-high directly at the cycle path near Holsthum shortly before Minden. At the destination, the Prüm Cycle Path meets the Sauer Cycle Path.
