A beautiful round route around the Rottachspeicher. The starting point is in Moosbach, but any other place on the route is also possible. The route runs on asphalt or well-maintained gravel paths and is therefore also suitable for e-bike riders. The villages of Moosbach, Petersthal, and Oy are visited, each offering opportunities to stop and eat. There are also some sights to see, such as the Bruder-Klaus Chapel or the Marian grotto.

The starting point of the route is the parking lot at the bathing area in Moosbach, where numerous parking spaces are available year-round. The starting place is easily accessible by car via the A7 or B19. We begin our bike ride turning left towards the south from the parking lot and ride on the separated bike path next to the road. After 350 m, we take the left turn and cross the Rottachsee over the dam bridge. From there, there is a magnificent view over the entire lake. Looking from the bridge to the other side, we see the gorge into which the lake's water can be released. After the bridge, we turn left onto the bike path that leads us through some trees right along the water to Petersthal. The benches at the bathing meadow invite you to take a short break and drink; a place to eat is offered in Petersthal at the Gasthof Löwen. From the bathing area, we ride up into the village and turn left towards Oy. Now we follow the original route of the Allgäu bike round up to Memersch, and just before the small village of Haag, we see a large cross as a symbol of the Marian apparition on a viewing platform with benches for resting. From there, it is a 5-minute walk to the Bruder-Klaus Chapel, which invites you to visit. Our route continues through Haag, and after a good kilometer, we reach the highest point. Here, a beautiful view opens up down to Oy and the magnificent mountain panorama; looking to the left, we see the Schwarzenberger Weiher, framed by green meadows and forests. We ride down to Oy and turn sharply left at the church. On the right side, a pause at Café Gebath is recommended to enjoy their cakes and tortes made in-house. We cycle 850 m further on the main road until we turn left directly before the railway track onto the bike path. The path leads us parallel to the motorway until we meet a paved road and go under the motorway. After the village Wasenmühle, we must go left on the main road for 50 m, then turn left again onto a gravel path and go under the motorway again. The path leads us down into the nature reserve Rottachmoos. We cycle through the moss and forest area, always going straight until we turn right towards Josereute. The gravel path leads us slightly uphill to the paved road OA 10, which we cross. After a few hundred meters, we return to the original route of the Rottachsee circular path, where at the fork we choose the right variant and after another 400 m, at the next intersection following the signage, turn left. After the section of forest of the bird protection area Kempter Wald with Upper Rottachtal, we continue straight and leave Oberzollhaus on the other side of the railway line. Now we reach the northernmost point of our tour and turn left downhill towards the lake at the junction before the photovoltaic systems. From there, there is another magnificent view over the entire lake, all the way to the Grünten, the mountain called the guardian of the Allgäu. From here, it goes almost 4 km directly along the shore of the Rottach reservoir back to Moosbach. Shortly before the village, on the right in a field, we notice a Marian grotto carved into a large overgrown Nagelfluh rock block. Shortly before Moosbach, we turn left to the bathing area. At the kiosk, simple dishes, coffee, and cake are available. Those who prefer a full meal can make a detour to Moosbach to the beautiful beer garden of Gasthof Engels and experience typical Allgäu cuisine. Additionally, the restaurant offers bicycles and e-bikes for rent and has a battery charging station.
