The landscape of the Ostbaar is mainly shaped by rural agriculture. You will encounter small villages that still have small farms today. For this reason, this area is affectionately and somewhat ironically called "Suuländle" in local dialect after the once intensively operated pig farming by the surrounding Baar landscape. While a large part of this landscape consists only of fields, you can find wooded areas on the slopes towards the Riedbaar.

    Roadbook

The starting point of the cycling route is the village center in Donaueschingen – Aasen. The Donaueschingen district was a court and assembly place under the Zähringers. We follow the bicycle signposts towards Bad Dürrheim to the next fork. Here, we turn right towards Heidenhofen. At a short stop at the viewpoint "Gedenkkreuz" we can enjoy the magnificent panorama with views of the Baar landscape and the edge mountain ranges Alb and Black Forest. Now we continue straight ahead along the bicycle signposts to Heidenhofen.

Arriving there, we come across the Hilarius Church, one of the oldest churches on the Baar. In Heidenhofen, we enjoy a wonderful view of the Protestant part of the Ostbaar and the "Alb". We follow the signs towards Biesingen. In this small village, the old Biesingen mill and the fish pond are worth a detour. We continue past the rest area at the Riedwiesen on the cycle path towards Immenhöfe.

The small village offers a beautiful view of the Unterhölzer Forest, the Wartenberg, and the Fürstenberg. The Immenhöfe are characterized by modern farm complexes and horse breeding. We turn right towards Donaueschingen at the Immenhöfe and follow the bicycle signposts along the beautifully landscaped golf course, past the hotel "Der Öschberghof", until we reach a country road. We cross this and now follow the field path through the "Donaueschinger Ried" along the tree-lined avenue. Soon afterward, we reach the starting point of the cycling route again in Aasen.
