On this route through the International Nature Park Moor, you will also experience the Emsland as Germany's largest oil production area.
Almost silently and in their own rhythm, the "oil nerds" pump the "black gold" from the depths. In Twist, the Oil and Gas Museum provides information about the geological formation of the sought-after raw materials and also makes historical and modern extraction technology tangible.
The route leads directly to the Emsland Moor Museum with the world's largest deep plough and other exciting exhibits in two halls. The history of the moor is vividly illustrated: from the first settlement through industrial peat use to today's protection and renaturation of this unique habitat. You will get to know it better on the further way through the Nature Park Moor.
Highlights along the way also include the bathing lake "Blue Lagoon" as well as – back in Twist – the Nazareth Church with its lovingly designed Bible and farm garden and the "Path to Happiness."
