Following the traces of the Romans, along the Wörnitz.
Author’s recommendation
The center of Oettingen is worth a visit. Here you can comfortably enjoy an ice cream sundae at a street cafe and watch storks. Practically on every second roof there is a nest. At the Wörnitz island there is the Wörnitz river outdoor pool. Just the right thing after such a day.
So don't forget your swimwear.

The start is in Oettingen where we simply parked in a side street. It goes along the Wörnitz towards Wassertrüdingen, where we, like all cyclists, had great orientation difficulties due to a construction site not signposted for cyclists. In any case, it continued south of Wassertrüdingen towards Dinkelsbühl. Directly past the Wunibald spring. Everything was very lovingly prepared for tourists here, which absolutely invites to a break.
Then we continue shortly after Aufkirchen to visit the Roman park Ruffenhofen.
Right after Limburg, you pass a huge sawmill. Shortly before Dinkelsbühl in Neustädtlein, turn left over the Wörnitz. At the road, we turn left to follow it for a bit. In front of Diederstetten there are small ponds, perfect for a short rest.
Then on to Mönchsroth, at the edge of town we make a detour to the Roman tower. Further on over Wilburgstetten - Greiselbach - Rühlingstetten - Fremdingen, until Ehingen am Ries. Finally, simply back to the parking lot in Oettingen.
