The starting point is the historic Eutin Castle, which forms the cultural center of the city. Along with Gottorf and Glücksburg Castles, it is one of the most important secular court buildings in Schleswig-Holstein. Regular exhibitions, guided tours, and events take place here. To the west, the route follows along the city bay into the district of Fissau. Here begins Lake Keller, which extends along its eastern shore to the district of Sielbeck. A detour to Ukleisee with the Uklei ferry house makes for a nice resting spot in Sielbeck. Through the villages of Benz, Nüchel, and Kirchnüchel, the path goes uphill to the Bungsberg. At 168 m it is the highest elevation in Schleswig-Holstein. In good weather conditions, the view from the observation platform extends as far as Denmark. The route then goes downhill again through the forest path to the Stendorf estate and back to Lake Eutin.
Author’s recommendation
During the rapeseed bloom in May, the view from the observation platform on the Bungsberg is especially worthwhile.

Roadbook
The unexpectedly steep climbs for northern Germany make the route interesting. Due to longer natural sections and partly somewhat rougher ground, racing bike tires are not recommended.
