This is an easy cycle route, despite some challenging climbs, and not particularly long. It winds along almost entirely paved roads with little traffic, among small woods and cultivated fields, in a hilly area just a few dozen kilometers from Bologna.
Not to be missed is the short detour to Monteveglio Alto and the Abbey of Santa Maria Assunta of Monteveglio, which gives the nature park its name, an ancient Romanesque complex built by order of Matilda of Canossa.

The route starts from Bazzano and, through secondary roads, reaches the village of Monteveglio and the Monteveglio Abbey Regional Park. At the park visitor center, located in the San Teodoro meadows, turn right and pedal for a while along the Rio San Teodoro, then turn right again and start climbing towards the abbey. After visiting the church, descend again to the valley, returning to the visitor center area. At first, the route continues parallel to the Ghiara di Serravalle stream, then climbs to 300 meters elevation, from where it begins to descend among small woods. Once Tagliolina is reached, continue along the Rio Marzatore stream (itinerary 8/M08), until the loop is closed. From there, return to Bazzano following the outbound route.
