The Luonteri cycling route meanders through charming South Savo countryside. The route features diverse surfaces: smooth asphalt, gravel roads, as well as sand and crushed stone surfaces. The route is about 90 kilometers long and includes a ferry crossing.
This demanding route is colored by hilly landscapes, clear shimmering waters, lush woodland, and various village scenes. Along the route, you can take a swim, for example, at the famous Karihiekka sandy beach in the eastern part of the Luonteri water system. You will also find a campfire site and a small harbour for excursions. Those who enjoy rocky landscapes can visit Kaarna-, Kuva-, or Rapiovuori hills, which offer magnificent views of Saimaa.
The start and end points of the route are at Anttolanhovi. The Luonteri area is Finland's most hilly terrain and has playfully earned the nickname "Savon Switzerland." After the route, you can stay overnight at Anttolanhovi or take a cruise to enjoy the beauty of Saimaa.
