Here’s a very pleasant route that will take you from Anglet to Capbreton and Hossegor on a 70-km round trip.
Perfect for a day-long bike ride where you’ll experience a variety of settings.
The route starts at the “Les Roues de Lilou” bike shop in Anglet, following the bike path to the red bridge at the entrance to Bayonne.
Once you’ve crossed the red bridge, you’ll have to follow the road with cars for 4 km until you reach Boucau—which is the least pleasant part of the route. After Boucau, you can either continue on the Vélodyssée, which passes through Tarnos amid car traffic, or follow our route, which takes you along a car-free bike path through the trees and alongside a stream—a very pleasant ride.
The kilometers fly by without seeing any cars, except at the intersections with the roads leading to the beaches of Tarnos, Ondres, and Labenne.
After 25 kilometers of bike paths deep in the forest, we arrive in Capbreton, where we can stop for coffee or a snack on the terrace of Le Baya, with a superb view of the Landes beaches.
From there, our route continues all the way around the port of Capbreton, still on bike paths, bringing us to Hossegor and its central beach, where it’s also nice to have a drink.
Continuing northward, our route takes us to the far end of Lake Hossegor and its oyster huts; here, too, you can make a quick stop to sample some oysters before heading back.
The return trip begins along Lake Hossegor, then passes through downtown Hossegor and its shops, followed by downtown Capbreton and its new, very pleasant public spaces along the Boudigau stream.
It’s time to head back via the same route you took on the way there to enjoy this vast Landes forest once again.
This route, nearly 70 km long, can be shortened at any time to suit your preferences. It’s a very enjoyable ride on our Pedego e-bikes with rotation sensors, or our O2feel bikes with pedaling pressure sensors for a more athletic experience. And for the more athletic riders, our Cube trekking bikes will be ideal for covering all those kilometers.
