LF Routes
This international route alternates between the culture, architecture, and lively bustle of the major Dutch and Flemish cities and the tranquility of typical Dutch and Flemish landscapes. The route starts in Amsterdam and then continues southward via Rotterdam or Gouda to the Belgian cities of Antwerp and Brussels. The route also passes through Mechelen and Leuven. The cities are very easy to explore by bike. You have complete freedom of movement, never have to sit in traffic, and can “park” anywhere. This active tour is therefore highly recommended for city trip enthusiasts.
The City Route is part of the international collaborative project “Borderless Cycling.”
The Dutch section of the route is included in the cycling vacation atlas “Base Map of the LF Route Network.”
For the Flemish section, we recommend the overview map “Long-Distance Cycling Routes in Flanders” (scale 1:250,000), on which the LF2 is marked. This map provides excellent guidance, in addition to the existing signage via the familiar LF signs. The map can be ordered through the Fietsvakantiewinkel.
Current Information andRoute Changes Always check before cycling an LF route to see if there are any current issues along your route that could affect your trip. There may be a temporary road detour or a ferry out of service. In any case, much has changed in the LF route network in recent years due to the coordination of LF routes with regional bicycle junction networks.
