The Leiningerland is located in the northeasternmost part of the Palatinate Forest. It is named after the formerly most important noble family of the area, the Leiningen family. The restored castles Altleiningen and Neuleiningen commemorate the Leiningen family. A highlight on this very varied cycling route through the Leiningerland is especially the medieval castle village of Neuleiningen with its numerous half-timbered houses. A gigantic view over the Palatinate Forest, the Upper Rhine Plain, and the Donnersberg area opens up above Neuleiningen on the way to Wattenheim. The Nature Friends House Rahnenhof, which is open daily and located in the middle of the circular route, is suitable for a break.
Note: The cycle path from Kleinsägemühlerhof is partly difficult to ride due to tree roots on the trail. Alternatively, you can take the L 520 from Altleiningen or Kleinsägemühlerhof to Kleinkarlbach.
Route description :
Via Werner-Spieß-Straße in Kleinkarlbach, it first goes steeply uphill to Neuleiningen. After passing through Neuleiningen, you ride on the country road towards Tiefenthal up to 200 m before the motorway underpass and then turn left onto an asphalted farm road leading to Nakterhof. You continue to follow the well-signposted cycle path towards Wattenheim. You pass through Wattenheim on Speyererstraße and Lochberg and reach Hetschmühle in the valley. Here the cycle path continues straight ahead, past the pond, over Seckenhäuser Hof, through Carlsberg and Hertlingshausen to the Nature Friends House Rahnenhof, the turning point of the circular route. From now on, you always follow the designated cycle path that leads along the Eckbach stream via Altleiningen back to Kleinkarlbach.
