Roadbook
The route starts in the Zähringen town of Bräunlingen (city founded in the 13th century), which has a lot to offer with its renovated and historic old town with the city wall and Mühlentor. The starting point is the Kelnhof Museum, from where you first go through the city center towards Bruggen, then on to Hölzlehof and from there a short stretch southwards to the Mörri Slakes biotope. The path then leads through the beautiful and oxygen-rich Bräunlingen Forest. You can make a short detour to Mistelbrunn with its notable Markus Chapel. Then we descend along Kirchweg towards Unterbränd. Particularly interesting here is the St. Anna Church. Unterbränd is a former charcoal burner settlement: the ending "-bränd" in the place name indicates forest areas cleared by fire. Leaving the village center, after 300 meters we reach the warmest bathing lake in the Southern Black Forest, Kirnbergsee. There is also a campsite with a fire pit here. The route continues along the lake to the city wall, which was built in 1921-1922. This allowed the Brändbach, which is still called Kirnbach at this point, to be dammed up to Kirnbergsee and used for power generation from hydropower. Kirnbergsee is surrounded by magnificent flower meadows and extensive forests and offers pure nature and relaxation. It is especially popular because of its warm water and beautifully designed beaches. Various recreational activities such as swimming, surfing, and fishing are very popular with visitors from near and far. A detour around the beautiful lake is also possible, but a few steps at the dam have to be climbed. The route continues along the Brändbach path to Waldhausen, past the listed power station building. On the Riedweg we again have a peaceful view of the open Baar landscape before arriving back at the Kelnhof Museum.
