    Author’s recommendation

For your journey to the start point in Dingelstädt, it is best to use the Radbus from EW-Bus. (Groups of 5 or more: registration 24 hours in advance. Mobility center: 03605 5152 - 53) From Eschwege, about 7 km from the end of the official cycle path, trains run hourly back to Heilbad Heiligenstadt.

    • Attention! Slippery when wet! Cross railway tracks at significantly reduced speed!!

    Tips and suggestions

    Roadbook

It's best to start this cycling route at the former Dingelstädt station (ample parking available). From here, the route heads south, offering wide views over the plateaus around Dingelstädt. Soon you reach the former Küllstedt station with its draisine change station. Next, you continue to the first highlight of the route: the crossing of the Küllstedt Tunnel. At 1,530 meters, it is the longest of the five railway tunnels on the cycle path that pass through the mountain massif. Along the ride, wonderful views of the Eichsfeld region open up repeatedly. Soon you arrive at Lengenfeld unterm Stein, where the cycle path runs below the impressive viaduct and offers the opportunity to rest at the draisine station. Then it continues to Geismar, from where you proceed through the Frieda valley via Großtöpfer to the end point of the route in Frieda. Here you can connect to the Werratal cycle path towards Eschwege and Wanfried.
