Isar cycle path Mittenwald - Landshut
In 4 stages from Mittenwald to Landshut.
Stage 1: Mittenwald - Bad Tölz
Stage 2: Bad Tölz - Grünwald
Stage 3: Grünwald - Moosburg
Stage 4: Moosburg - Landshut (main station)
Very nice and cozy family route on well-paved and (mostly) well-signposted paths.
Only in the... state capital Munich did I find the whole thing quite chaotic because of poor signage and crisscrossing cycle paths...
If you want to take a break directly on the Isar between Munich and Freising, you should cycle on the right side of the Isar. We chose the left side and only after the Freising Isar bridge can you really get close to the Isar to rest and possibly swim. Between Munich and Freising, the gravel banks are rather on the other side.

Our accommodation spots:
http://www.haus-sibylle.de/ --> highly recommended
From here to Binderbräu (https://www.toelzer-binderbraeu.de/) for food and drinks! Don't forget the beer liqueur with whipped cream as dessert ;-)
https://www.alterwirt.de/ --> traditional cuisine
If you need quiet for sleeping, you should reserve a room at the back, as the hotel is located at the central intersection. For dining, the pizzeria "La Villa" opposite is highly recommended.
http://zur-laend.de/ --> Croatian, simple but good
Located directly on the route, simple and good with a nice beer garden.
Roadbook
Mostly on well-paved and partially asphalted cycle paths or low-traffic roads.
The only "annoying" section is from Vorderriss to the Sylvenstein reservoir dam... Here you have to ride on the federal road.
Public transport
Public-transport-friendly
Best to take the train to Mittenwald, the route starts directly at the station. The return journey is then from the station in Landshut.Coordinates
