The bike route “In der Parr” leads from Zweibrücken-Ixheim along the Bickenalb on the European Mill Route via Mittelbach to Altheim and from there uphill to Riesweiler and Utweiler. From Utweiler it goes back into the Bickenalb valley to Peppenkum and from the Bickenalb valley via Medelsheim up to the Bliesgau high plateau above Seyweiler. On the cycle path “Velo Visavis” you reach the Wattweiler heights and via the plateau around Wattweiler return to the starting point of the route.

The Parr is a landscape in the southeasternmost part of Saarland between the Bickenalb and the Blies. The name Parr goes back to the former “parish” Medelsheim. It usually refers to the four places formerly belonging to the Catholic parish of Medelsheim: Medelsheim, Peppenkum, Seyweiler, and Utweiler. But also the Blieskastel “districts” Altheim, Pinningen, and (Brenschelbach-)Riesweiler are counted in.

The start point of the circular route is at the junction of the B 424 (Bitcher Straße) to Mittelbach (L 465) on the outskirts of Zweibrücken-Ixheim, which you can reach from the train station in Zweibrücken via the Pirminius cycle path (direction Hornbach). First, follow the cycle path signs of the European Mill Route towards Mittelbach. The cycle path signage leads you via Mittelbach and Bickaschbacherhof along the Bickenalb up to just before Altheim. When you meet the L 201 before Altheim, leave the European Mill Route and continue on the opposite paved field path (above the sports field). After 1.4 km, turn right at a T-junction. Always stay on the paved field path, which crosses the L 103 after 1 km and meets the L 102 after another 1.7 km. Here turn right to Riesweiler, and from Riesweiler follow the road to Utweiler.

At the entrance to Utweiler, turn right to Peppenkum and from there on the roadside cycle path to Medelsheim. At the village entrance, turn right into Brühlstraße, which leads you to the Medelsheim Church of St. Martin, the landmark and namesake of the landscape referred to as “Parr” (“parish”). Here turn right into Burgstraße and after 120 m turn left into Heulukweg (direction Walsheim). 800 m after leaving Medelsheim, you reach the cycle path “Velo Visavis.” On it you'll cycle on a gravel forest and field path above Seyweiler, Pinningen, and Böckweiler, around the Großer Kahlenberg and through the Hengsthochwald, until after 8.7 km you meet Hochwaldstraße above Mittelbach. Here you leave the “Velo Visavis” cycle path and continue on the forest path starting on the other side of the road towards Wattweiler. At the Wattweiler junction, continue straight towards Rimschweiler, and at the fork after the forest cemetery, keep right. On a concrete field path, it then goes steadily downhill to Ixheim. At the entrance to Ixheim, turn right into Etzelweg and after 100 m left onto the roadside cycle path of L 465. After 200 m you reach the starting point of the route again.
