    Author’s recommendation

It is recommended to visit Hervás and its Jewish quarter. The best periods to do the route are winter, spring and, especially, in autumn, when its forests become especially striking, staining the landscape in shades of red, orange and yellow. This route can be done in summer, although it is advisable to start early, as temperatures can rise considerably.

    Roadbook

The route starts in Hervás, on Calle La Vía, leaving the town on Calle Valle del Jerte, taking the CC-224 road and following it for 1.7 km. We turn left shortly before reaching the Fuente de San Gregorio, ascending the Pista Heidi and the PR-CC 38 trail of the same name, which we follow for the entire route. We ascend, enjoying the forests of the valley, finding the Fuente de Oriente at km 5.6 and a stone fountain at km 7.7, just where we stop climbing and begin to flatten out.

We begin a stretch of about 11 km, with small ups and downs, but relatively flat, with spectacular views, crossing the slope of the Traslasierra Mountains. At km 9.7, we cross the Gallegos River, finding another of the sources of this area, we continue moving forward to cross the Majallana stream, next to the Félix Guillen Fountain, being able to rest in a picnic area located shortly after, at km 12 of the route. Further on we pass the Río de Hervás and the Costeras stream, crossing, at km 19, the Ambroz river, from where we start the descent. Near here, downstream, is the well-known waterfall of La Chorrera, with about 20 meters high. In summer, this area is perfect for resting and taking a dip in its crystal clear waters.

We begin to descend towards Hervás, leaving the Ambroz River on the left, crossing spectacular scenery for just over 7 km, reaching the road to Hervás CC-16.3, which we take to the left to reach our destination.
