This “route” proves to be a triangular course, with the sides of the triangle forming the different character of this beautiful route. While the Bad Düben–Schmiedeberg section runs mainly through forest, the stretch from Bad Schmiedeberg to the northernmost point, the small town of Lubast, goes over largely open terrain with ponds and meadows. In the third section, closed forest patches alternate with larger open areas. Our route partly follows the Leipzig–Berlin long-distance cycle path and the Heide circular route.
