On the extension of the Hansag cycle path (B22) you can enjoy complete peace and the wide open land.
Cycle along the Einser canal, past vineyards with views over the Pannonian plain. The landscape is reminiscent of the Hungarian puszta. The Hansag cycle path surrounds the protected area of one of the landmarks of the Neusiedler See - Seewinkel National Park: the famous and shy great bustard - a sight that fascinates not only bird lovers.
This cycle path is a secret tip for all cyclists looking for authenticity and peace.
As part of the EU project "Fertö-Hansag mobil", the Hansag cycle path was extended. The B22 now leads from the historically significant Bridge of Andau along the Einser canal westward to the newly built Baron Berg Gusztav Bridge. From here, you can reach the original course of the B22 again via Wallern and Tadten. Also, a detour to the Hungarian town of Kapuvár, about 14 km away, is now possible via newly built cycle paths.
Author’s recommendation
In Andau, you should definitely visit "The Bridge of Andau": a escape route for thousands of Hungarians in 1956, it has become a meeting place for international artists who line the area with objects and sculptures in the spirit of the historic events.
