Roadbook
Your journey into local history starts at the collegiate area in Wietmarschen, from where the route leads through the pilgrimage site Wietmarschen with the small local history museum in the Packhaus. On quiet streets, you travel north to the historic sheepfold in Schwartenpohl. There, you can learn a lot about farm life in grandmother’s times. Once your eyes have adapted to the darkness in the sheepfold, you can discover many interesting facts about sheep grazing in the moor. After these impressions, you continue along a moderately trafficked road through the Tangensand forest area into the agricultural village of Nordlohne.
From here, you enjoy your ride through the former military training area with extensive forest and heathland areas and even a sandy dune landscape. The route continues through the forest and recreational area “Lohner Sand” via Schepsdorf and Südlohne to Lohne. Past the leisure lake Lohne, where you can take a refreshing swim, you follow the Stiftsbach back to Wietmarschen.
