The Salzbergen Fire Brigade Museum is one of about 30 fire brigade museums in Germany. On over 800 square meters, the development of firefighting over the last 300 years is presented. You can admire simple early extinguishing devices, old hand pumps, motorized turntable ladders, and various vehicles from 1923 onwards. The exhibition is complemented by brass and leather helmets, helmets from abroad, uniforms, medals and badges of honor, as well as other collections.

Roadbook
If you start your route in Schüttorf, you will first reach Quendorfer See, where you can enjoy a swim. Then cycle past Kapellenplatz Kluse (see Route 4) through extensive forest areas in Heidfeld, along vast flower fields over the cultural monument Hünenburg to Emsbüren at the Ems River. Your route leads you on quiet paths through woods and meadows - always close to the Ems - to Salzbergen, where among other things the fire brigade museum (Sundays) invites you to take a break and explore.
Over Steider Heck and through Samerott, past the “Raven Tree” (see Route 3), you head back to the Vechtetal valley at the historic Schulze-Holmer farmstead and continue back to Schüttorf. From the “Schüttorf Giant” you can once again discover the stage destinations of your tour from above.
