Roadbook
The stage begins with the romantic half-timbered town of Eberbach.
From there, it leads toward Neckarelz. At the town entrance, the cycle path is particularly charming as it runs directly along the Elz. Then we cycle along the Neckar to Hochhausen. Behind the town, the Half-Timbered Road goes over a somewhat challenging but short ascent. However, the following downhill ride compensates immediately.
Further on towards Haßmersheim, passing Hornberg Castle. Once one of the largest inland shipping sites in southwestern Germany, Haßmersheim was an important starting point for Neckar shipping, which led from here to the Rhine. Arriving at Neckarmühlbach, a visit to the Staufer fortress Guttenberg is recommended. In addition to the medieval castle with its museum, the birds of prey show is also worth seeing.
On the cycle path towards Gundelsheim, there is a spot with two benches where we can enjoy the view of Horneck Castle and Guttenberg Castle. On the way to Heinsheim, we pass Ehrenberg Castle. In Bad Wimpfen, there is a saltwater spa where a refreshing break awaits. The wonderful viewpoints and cozy little cafes are best discovered on foot. A nearby rest area offers a view of Bad Friedrichshall above the Neckar.
From Untereisesheim, the route goes into the area around Heilbronn, also called the "Swabian Tuscany." Located amid vineyards, the city impresses with its diversity. The route now leaves the Neckar and continues along the Lein. Following the route, we reach the Eichbott lakes. We continue to Schwaigern, where the Lein Valley Zoo or the outdoor pool offer good opportunities for a break. Via Gemmingen with its stately castle park, the route continues to Eppingen. The old town with its historic market square forms the end of the stage.
