From the Eifel to the Moselle: On the Salm Cycle Path
The Salm Cycle Path in the Moseleifel is an easy and scenic bike route between Dreis and Klüsserath in the Salm valley. The approximately 16–17 km long route mainly runs through a wide, flat plain of the so-called Wittlicher Senke, making it particularly family-friendly and also suitable for inexperienced cyclists. Along the route, nature and cultural experiences merge: Dreis Castle, baroque and romanesque churches, historic mills, and traditional farmhouses in the style of the Trier Einhaus characterize the places in the Salm valley. The route follows the course of the Salm river through Sehlem, Esch and Rivenich up to the wine region of the Moselle near Klüsserath. Only behind Rivenich is there a short incline of about 150–200 m. An annual cycling experience day additionally makes the path a regional event with open farms, music and culinary delights.
