Between the town of Kusel in the West Palatinate Musicians' Land and the Saarland community of Freisen, it runs almost flat over 24 km on the former railway track of the Türkismühle - Kusel line. With a slight gradient towards Kusel, but also "uphill" towards Freisen, the path is easy to manage.
Freisen is a top destination for lovers of fine minerals. The agate finds of the region are world famous. Another highlight is the nearby Lichtenberg Castle, at 425 meters long the longest castle ruin in Germany. The climb to the castle is also worthwhile because of the primeval museum Geoskop housed in the castle area.
