On 79.8 km you will experience the French-German border region between Palatinate Forest and Alsace up to the beautiful little town of Bitche.
The bike route starts in Eppenbrunn and initially runs on the German side to Ludwigswinkel. If you need a cool down here, you can take a break at a bathing lake. The route then continues across the border into France. The next lake is already waiting, the "Étang de Fleckenstein." On the French side it continues to the beautiful town of Bitche. The citadel, the "Jardin pour la paix" and a detour into the old town are recommended. Via Walschbronn and then along the Trualbe it takes you back to Eppenbrunn.
WATCH OUT! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
• Be considerate on the move – Always act in a foresighted, friendly and considerate manner towards everyone you meet. This applies especially to economic paths where winemakers, farmers and foresters also work on weekends.
• Picnic & Waste – Remember a rubbish bag for on the go and take waste back home with you. Use only the furnished rest stops for breaks and picnics.
• Nature conservation – Stay on the designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are in nature. Leave the forest at the latest at dusk to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.
Author’s recommendation
E-bike recommended and shortcut option: in Ludwigswinkel leave the cycle path and follow the economic and forest road straight through the village across the border through the forest to Bremendell, to rejoin the main route between Obersteinbach and Sturzelbronn.

Safety information
Our cycling routes often run along paths shared with others. We therefore ask for a considerate and friendly attitude at all times. Winemakers, farmers and foresters use the economic paths through fields, forests and vineyards for their daily work (also on weekends) and therefore always have priority. Due to work operations and/or weather conditions these paths can also be dirtier at times. Special caution is also advised when cycling on the (mostly quiet and little-used) roads in and around the Palatinate villages.
